Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon5In the movie, Guilt Trip, there is a scene with Barbara Streisand and Seth Rogen at the Grand Canyon.  Barbara had always wanted to see it, so they took a side trip.  Once they finally reached the destination, they waited there for a few seconds wondering what to do next.  They thought the Grand Canyon deserved at least a 10 minute visit.  Even that was too long for them.

The Grand Canyon is one of those must-visit sights, and it seems to leave a varying impact on everyone.  What is your experience with the Grand Canyon?  Here is what I saw a few years ago.

I visited the Grand Canyon on a weekend while I was on a business trip in Phoenix. After being in the car all day, we reached the canyon just as the sun was setting. As we got out of the car with great anticipation, I overheard a woman say, “Come on, Harry, if you’ve seen one view, you’ve seen ’em all.” So much for being awed by nature’s splendor. I was thrilled nonetheless.

We spent a couple of days visiting the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago in March. I had no real idea of what to expect, but thought it might be over-hyped – however after spending an afternoon stopping off along West Rim Drive to Hermit Point and most of the day heading east towards the Watch Tower I can only say that those people who don’t actually stop and really look at one of the world’s most amazing landscape and think ‘Wow’ must be brain dead. I only wish I had been young enough and fit enough to hike down to the bottom.

Wonderful pictures of the Canyon. We were there 3 years ago and the smog played havoc with my pictures. Yours are very clear. Thanks for the memories.
